Hot Snacks

USDA2h ago

USDA logs 1.3M tonnes of new corn export sales in a week

Corn export sales hit 1.32 million tonnes in the week ending Thursday, the strongest weekly total since March and roughly double the prior four-week average. Mexico and Japan took the largest share, with two unknown-destination cargoes still unassigned. December futures closed 6 cents higher on the news, and basis firmed across the eastern Corn Belt. Shipments still lag last year's pace by four percent.

Why it matters

A firmer basis is worth more than the futures move if you still have corn in the bin.
